Communities Growing Together (CGT), funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, helps build stronger, healthier, and more connected communities through sustainable and regenerative growing practices, and collective action. The project promotes food security, environmental awareness, and community wellbeing.

Centred on the Sandy Flatts Community Allotment, and working closely with All Year Round – The Flower Patch, the project increases local food growing while promoting biodiversity gain and improving soil health. Using regenerative practices, it helps people learn how to grow food in ways that benefit both the environment and the community.

Community Activities

Regular events include weeding and sowing sessions, training workshops, and community gatherings. The produce grown is shared through Nine Yards’ Eco Shops or used in community cooking sessions, helping residents cook healthy, affordable meals.

Making a Difference

The project tackles social isolation, supports those experiencing food or fuel poverty, and creates pathways into volunteering and employment. Together, these activities build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of belonging.
