A snapshot of our recent work
🌳 Together, we’ve planted 29,714 trees across the region – helping remove CO₂ from the atmosphere and improve the air across Teesside.
☀️ 84% of people who took part in Climate Action Middlesbrough said they’ll make changes to live more sustainably – small steps that make a big difference.
🌱 100% of Communities Growing Together participants improved their knowledge and skills in sustainable growing. Over 80% said their new skills could increase their employability.
🛒 Our 28 Eco Shops help local communities access affordable, sustainable food and build a greener local economy. Our stores welcome around 1,000 customers each week, providing approximately 8,000 meals which would have otherwise gone to landfill. (Source: FareShare NE)
♻️ Since 2021, our Eco Shops have distributed 447 tonnes of affordable, sustainable food. That’s over 1 million equivalent meals with a value of almost £1.5 million reaching an estimated 2,990 beneficiaries. By redistributing this surplus food, over 715 tonnes of CO₂ and 670,500,000 litres of water have been saved. (Source: FareShare NE)
👩🍳 Between July–September 2025, we delivered 58 cooking and nutrition sessions between in schools and community hubs across the region. 337 people took part, each one learning new skills, building confidence and understanding how to cook and eat well. Since April 2025, 592 local residents have joined our sessions, growing together through food, connection and confidence. Find out more about Middlesbrough Food Partnership.
🔥 Over 700 people were supported with emergency fuel vouchers in 2024. All participants were put on the priority service register and made aware of the impact of carbon monoxide.
🚴♀️ Our Active Travel team have delivered Bikeability and Pedestrian Training to over 100 schools across the Tees Valley region.
