Nine Yards is proud to be continuing its partnership with Teesside Mind for a third consecutive year, helping the mental health charity measure, understand and reduce its carbon footprint.

Through our sustainability support, we work with Teesside Mind to analyse key operational data, including energy use, waste, water consumption and business travel. This helps the organisation identify where its emissions come from, pinpoint areas for improvement and monitor progress towards its environmental targets.

The partnership is already making a difference. Teesside Mind achieved an impressive 18% reduction in emissions between 2023/24 and 2024/25, bringing it closer to Mind’s national targets of a 20% reduction by 2026 and net zero by 2040.

Building a healthier future for people and planet

Teesside Mind recognises the important relationship between mental health, the environment and the communities we live in. Taking steps to understand and reduce its carbon footprint is part of its commitment to working more sustainably and supporting people’s long-term wellbeing.

The charity said:

“We know that mental health is closely linked to the health of our environment and communities, so looking at our carbon footprint helps us understand the impact we’re having and take responsibility for it.

“Over the past three years, our partnership with Nine Yards has been really valuable. It’s helped us reduce our carbon footprint while also raising awareness across our team. Their understanding of the third sector means the advice we get is realistic and achievable, which keeps us motivated and focused on making genuine progress.”

Our experience working with charities and other organisations means we understand the practical challenges of balancing environmental ambitions with limited time, resources and budgets. We aim to provide clear, achievable advice that helps organisations make informed decisions and take meaningful steps towards reducing their impact.

Working together for a more sustainable Tees Valley

Our partnership with Teesside Mind demonstrates how collaboration, reliable data and practical action can help organisations make real progress towards their sustainability goals.

At Nine Yards, we believe that creating a healthier, fairer and more sustainable Tees Valley means supporting organisations to make positive changes wherever they can. By helping partners understand their environmental impact and identify opportunities to reduce emissions, we can contribute to a more sustainable future for people, places and the planet.
